In-Facility Care
Moving into assisted living doesn’t mean your loved one stops needing individual attention. Aloma Home Care provides in-facility caregivers who support seniors right inside their community across the Greater Houston area.
Extra Support Inside a Facility Setting
Assisted living communities do a lot, but staff are typically responsible for many residents at once, and that math rarely leaves room for the kind of individual attention a family member would want for their own loved one. In-facility care exists to close that gap, placing a dedicated caregiver alongside your loved one within the community they already call home.
This isn’t about replacing what a facility offers. It’s about adding to it. Our caregivers work alongside facility staff, not against them, supplementing what the community provides with one-on-one time, conversation, and an extra set of eyes focused entirely on your loved one.
Families in Spring, TX, and throughout the Greater Houston area use in-facility care in different ways: some bring in a caregiver a few hours a week just to check in; others need more regular support for a loved one who’s struggling to get the attention they need in a busier facility.
Someone Who’s There Just for Them
A facility staff member managing a full caseload can’t always notice the small things: a resident who’s eating less than usual, seeming more withdrawn, or quietly struggling with something they haven’t mentioned to anyone. A caregiver who’s there specifically for your loved one has the time and attention to catch those details.
That kind of individual focus often ends up being the difference between a resident who’s simply present in a facility and one who’s genuinely thriving there.
What Our In-Facility Care Includes
In-facility care fills the gaps that a busier staffing ratio naturally leaves behind. Here’s a closer look at what our caregivers help with.
One-on-One Companionship
Facility staff are stretched across many residents, which limits how much individual time any one person gets. Our caregivers provide one-on-one companionship beyond what facility staff availability typically allows, giving your loved one someone who’s genuinely focused on them.
Personal Care and Hygiene Assistance
Even within a facility, some residents need more hands-on help with personal care than staff schedules allow for. Our caregivers provide personal care and hygiene assistance tailored to your loved one, on a schedule that isn’t dictated by everyone else’s needs at the same time.
Encouragement and Support at Mealtimes
Facility dining rooms move at their own pace, and some residents need a little extra encouragement to eat well or simply enjoy the meal. Our caregivers provide mealtime support, making sure your loved one is actually eating and not just pushing food around.
Company at Activities and Appointments
Getting to a facility activity or a medical appointment is sometimes easier said than done. Our caregivers accompany your loved one to scheduled activities and appointments, offering support and company along the way.
An Extra Set of Eyes on Wellbeing
No facility staff member can be everywhere at once. Our caregivers provide an extra layer of attention on your loved one’s comfort, safety, and overall wellbeing, catching things that might otherwise go unnoticed between staff rounds.
Scheduling That Works With the Facility
Every community runs on its own schedule of meals, activities, and quiet hours. Our caregivers build their visits around your loved one’s facility routine, rather than asking the facility to work around us.

It happens occasionally, and it’s not something to worry about. If a match isn’t working well, let us know and we’ll work with you to find a caregiver who’s a better fit.
Companion care can range from a few hours a week to daily visits, depending on what your loved one needs. We’ll help you figure out a schedule that actually fits during a free consultation.
Companion care can include some light tasks that come up naturally during a visit, like helping prepare a simple meal or tidying up together. For more extensive housekeeping needs, our Light Housekeeping service may be a better fit.
Companion care focuses on conversation, activities, and everyday support without hands-on tasks. Personal care includes hands-on help with things like bathing, dressing, and mobility. Many clients receive a blend of both, and we can help you figure out the right mix.
Every family’s situation is different, but common signs include difficulty with bathing, dressing, or moving around safely, or noticeable changes in daily routines. If you’re not sure, a free consultation can help you understand what level of support might make sense.
Aloma Home Care is a non-medical home care agency and does not accept Medicare or Medicaid. We accept private pay, long-term care insurance, and VA Pension with Aid and Attendance for those who qualify. We’re happy to walk through payment options during a free consultation.
We do our best to match clients with a consistent caregiver so a real relationship can develop over time. In situations like illness or scheduling conflicts, a substitute caregiver may occasionally be needed, but continuity is always our goal.

An annual assessment is conducted to meet state requirements. However, if there are any changes in your needs or condition, a reassessment may be warranted sooner to ensure you receive the appropriate level of care, which may also include additional supervisory visits based on those changes.
No. To protect the client and caregiver, all client payments must be received electronically or through arrangements made with the client manager. Aloma prohibits caregivers from receiving money from clients directly. Gifts under $25 are allowed but must be disclosed to management immediately.
Yes. We encourage caregivers to eat meals with the client if requested.
Aloma spends a great deal of time recruiting, hiring, and training caregivers. We have a tier system that matches a qualified caregiver to the client’s needs. Along with the background checks, caregivers also go through an extensive orientation and training program, plus continued training and repeated background checks yearly. We will be in constant contact if there is ever a concern, so please let us know.
Each caregiver goes through a rigorous screening process, which includes:
- Background checks by the Department of Public Safety
- Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
- Sex offender registry checks
- Employment verification and reference checks
- Drug screenings
Upon onboarding, you were given a complaint and grievance form. You may fill that out or contact your assigned care lead, client manager, or home office. There is also a place in SmartCare where you can leave feedback about your caregiver (both positive and negative), which we encourage you to do. To leave feedback, go to your SmartCare dashboard and scroll down to “My Feedback.” Here is where you will find a section to document complaints, suggestions, and rate your caregiver.
Our caregivers use standard infection control principles, including universal precautions as directed by the CDC. PPE (personal protective equipment) such as gloves and masks will be supplied to caregivers by Aloma. In addition, all caregivers must complete a pre-screen prior to every shift. If fever or illness is indicated, the caregiver is prohibited from electronically clocking into the SmartCare portal. Once administrators and care supervisors are contacted, you will also be made aware. Aloma follows CDC guidelines and protocols, so caregivers are quarantined and documented days off are observed in accordance. If a caregiver is unavailable due to illness and an alternate is not available, families may have to provide interim care.
Yes. From your client dashboard on SmartCare, go to client manager forms and resources. Here you can view all the onboarding signed documents, care plan, VA orders (if applicable), and more.

Companion Care
Some of the hardest days for a senior aren’t the ones with a medical challenge. They’re the quiet ones with no one to talk to. Companion Care pairs your loved one with a caregiver who shows up consistently, remembers what matters to them, and turns an ordinary afternoon into good company.
Companion Care from Aloma Home Care can include:

- Assistance with morning wake-up and bedtime routines
- Medication reminders
- Playing games, reading, and other engaging activities

Post-Surgical & Recovery Care
Coming home from the hospital is often when families feel least prepared. Discharge instructions are a lot to manage, and a setback in those first weeks can undo real progress. Respite Care
Family caregivers rarely ask for help until they’re already running on empty. Respite Care gives you permission to step away, whether that’s for a weekend, a work trip, or just a full night’s sleep, without worrying about who’s checking in on your loved one.

Dementia / Alzheimer’s Care
Memory loss changes the rhythm of a household, and it can be disorienting for everyone involved, not just the person living with it. Our caregivers are trained to meet clients where they are on any given day, using consistency and calm redirection to keep confusion and agitation from taking over.

Many veterans and surviving spouses don’t realize they’ve earned a benefit that could help pay for the exact kind of care they need at home. Aloma Home Care partners with the Care Planning Institute to help veterans and their families understand what they may qualify for through VA Pension with Aid & Attendance, while our caregivers handle the day-to-day support.
Veteran Care from Aloma Home Care can include:

- Personal care tailored to each veteran’s needs
- Companionship and daily living support
- Medication reminders
- Mobility assistance

Light Housekeeping
A home that used to run smoothly can slip out of order quickly, and the laundry piling up or dishes sitting in the sink is often the first sign a loved one is struggling. Cluttered walkways and neglected chores are more than an eyesore; they are a safety risk. Aloma Home Care keeps the household running so your loved one stays comfortable in a clean, safe space without the burden of doing it alone.
Light Housekeeping from Aloma Home Care can include:
- Laundry, including washing, drying, and folding
- Changing bed linens and making beds
- Washing dishes and tidying the kitchen after meals
- Dusting, vacuuming, and sweeping living areas
- Wiping down bathroom surfaces and keeping them sanitary
- Taking out the trash and clearing clutter that creates fall hazards
In-Facility Care
Facility staff do their best, but a shared caseload means individual attention is often limited to the essentials. Our caregivers work alongside assisted living and facility teams to give your loved one the one-on-one time, conversation, and extra advocacy that a busier staffing ratio just can’t offer.
In-Facility Care from Aloma Home Care can include:
- One-on-one companionship beyond facility staff availability
- Personal care and hygiene assistance
- Mealtime support and encouragement
- Accompaniment to facility activities and appointments
- Extra eyes on comfort, safety, and wellbeing
- Flexible scheduling around facility routines
